EK’s strategic priorities 2010–2012

The success of companies entails a continuous strengthening of expertise and the promotion of work and entrepreneurship

  •  In order to increase productivity, wages and other terms of employment should be agreed upon within each company individually.
  •  Social security should be reformed so that it encourages work and entrepreneurship.
  • Education and training should be based on the needs of the labour market.
  •  Special attention should be paid to quality and effectiveness when developing education and training.

Companies should be stimulated to grow and develop new business opportunities

  • Finland should be made the best business environment for companies seeking growth and competitiveness.
  • In rapidly changing conditions companies should be encouraged by a business-friendly climate to keep uncovering new business opportunities.
  •  Energy and environmental/climate policies should be made into a competitive advantage for companies.

Competitiveness of companies should be strengthened through taxation that encourages business

  • Finland should not be made an island of high taxation.
  • Taxation should encourage work and entrepreneurship.
  • Corporate and capital gains taxation should be internationally competitive.
  •  It is important that energy and environment taxation does not erode the success of companies.

Towards a new and more efficient welfare society

  • Today’s welfare society should be placed on an economically sustainable foundation.
  • The careers of Finns should be prolonged as the proportion of the working-age population declines.
  • Safeguarding services requires urgent productivity and cost-cutting measures, and that companies have the chance to provide an increasing share of public sector services.
  • Administrative structures should be reformed at all levels to increase savings and efficiency.
