UPM considering Myllykoski shut down, looking for potential investors for alternative use

17.10.2011

UPM is considering to shut down the current paper manufacturing operations of Myllykoski by the end of this year and they have asked Pöyry Group to assist them to look for new potential investors from Finland and abroad in order to find alternative owners and operators of this site.

At this stage, the main focus is on major companies which would benefit from existing industrial infrastructure for heavy -duty process industry. The Myllykoski site is located in the City of Kouvola and about 40 km north from the ports at Kotka and Hamina. There is about 500 skilled process industry workers for production and maintenance, full industrial infrastructure and a lot of energy available at scale required by major process industrial plants etc. Later on, also small and medium - size companies could also be invited to operate at the site, and this would be actual in 2012, when the major companies have been selected. However, preliminary expressions of interest are welcome already now.

Should you have any questions of need more detailed information or be interested to visit the site in October or November 2011, there is a presentation on the business opportunities readily available for potential bidders.
